Burning Gears
2010 saw the launch of Burning Gears – a thrilling racing simulator that takes gamers through the tight and winding streets of Vienna’s city centre. Players can take on up to five other drivers online and in real time. Additionally the Tuning Shop provides fans with the chance to customise their cars.
Every gamer can put his/her skills behind the wheel to the test, as well as tune their own cars and challenge fellow drivers online to a race around Vienna’s Ring Track. Up to six gamers can play simultaneously. The track follows Ringstraße, taking gamers past the capital’s most famous sights, such as St. Stephan’s Cathedral and the city hall.
Following training in the offline mode gamers will be able to take part in a number of race weekends online. The online mode is split into two options, namely Standard and Tuning races. In Standard races drivers must take to the track without any performance-related items, while in Tuning races any items acquired may be fitted and used. In addition to the regular race weekends, gamers can strive to achieve defined ‘best times’ in the online qualification rounds – a handy way to pick up valuable experience ahead of the decisive race weekends.
In September 2010 the continuance of this thrilling racing game started. There are 2 game modes: the race mode and “Capture the Twists”. In the new game mode “Capture the Twists” a Twist Pack is placed at random somewhere in the city. The aim of the game is to get to the pack first and keep away from the other racers. The Twist Pack can be taken away from one car by another simply by making contact with it. If a player can hold onto the Twist Pack for 60 seconds, or is in possession of the pack when the game time runs out, he/she wins!
