SC:09 – the world’s biggest ski race with 6 million gamers to date
Once again a successful Ski Challenge season, where millions of skiers from around the world put themselves to the test, has come to an end. Media partners such as ORF (Austria), Pro7 and Sat.1 (Germany), SF (Switzerland), 24sata (Croatia), Zurnal (Slovenia), NRK (Norway), France Television (France) and Italy all made a significant contribution towards the success.
The fifth consecutive season confirms the success story: the highest praise around for the graphical upgrades, eight participating nations, nine license partners and 260 million registered runs. Since the world’s biggest ski race began back in winter 2004, the Ski Challenge fan community has grown to six million members.
Once again a range of well-known advertising partners were on board, including names such as Kronen Zeitung, Uniqa, Sevengames.de, Original Wagner Pizza, Raiffeisen, Swisscom, Mobitel, Canon, Telenor, German Wings and A1. Moreover the mobile version of the game was launched in a number of countries to build on the success of the original PC version.
New features in this season’s Ski Challenge included the new runs in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Val d’Isere, which acted as their own competitions. Furthermore the graphics were significantly improved. SC:09 also featured sound upgrades, edited video and training modes and the new ‘group race’ feature.
