Ski Challenge 10 – The sixth season of the world’s biggest virtual skiing event comes to an end

With the end of winter Ski Challenge 10 has bowed out in style. And a further chapter has been written for the Ski Challenge success story this season: 8 countries, 13 media partners, 260 million recorded runs. Since the “world’s biggest ski race” began in 2004 the Ski Challenge community has surpassed 6 million active gamers. The figures have therefore stabilised at an impressively high level.

A total of eight countries were involved in Ski Challenge 10 from the offset: In addition to Austria, television broadcasters and media partners from Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Slovenia, Croatia, France and Italy licensed the hit game. Following tradition most of the gamers were based in German-speaking countries. And once again a range of big-name advertising partners were involved internationally, including Audi, Canon, Tipp3, Swisscom, Kronen Zeitung, Uniqa, Raiffeisen, German Wings and Red Bull to name just a few.

Alongside the ‘normal’ mobile version of the game an iPhone version was developed for the very first time exclusively for the Swiss market and partner Swisscom. The game proved to be a very popular download indeed, and a revision and further improvement of the iPhone version is already planned for the next Ski Challenge release.

“The solely IGA-financed ‘Ski Challenge’ is a showcase product of the international casual gaming branch,” says Dr. Eberhard Dürrschmid, Greentube CEO. Particular praise and recognition has been received this year for the comprehensive and successful graphical revision.

Ski Challenge is financed by dynamic ‘In-Game Advertising’. “This season the technology developed by Greentube was raised to a new, fully dynamic level,” says Dr. Dürrschmid, hinting towards what is set to come in Ski Challenge 11. Yet Ski Challenge is not alone in making waves: “Our other IGA-financed 3D games will take a step up over the next few years in a similar fashion. In implementing our dynamic IGA-technology, we have developed our leading position in this field even further.”
