Mountain Bike Challenge was first launched in autumn 2006 and was also promoted by ORF. This game gives biking professionals and bicycle sport fans alike the opportunity to put their skills to the test. Planned as a kind of test run, an international sequel is now set for 2007, which will be built up as a massive online event and will go on to become the biggest mountain bike race in the world.

In the first version of this 3D game, a virtual mountain slope is the challenge facing the riders, whereby the start of the race is at the peak of the Grossglockner and the finishing line is in Heiligenblut. The track is a racy mix of streets and off-road paths. In addition to impressive graphics and the incredibly accurate recreation of the route, the steering controls of the bike are very simple.

For two whole weeks gamers battled it out in the Mountain Bike Challenge 06 qualification mode. The big final was staged in October.
