Games Portfolio - 3D eSports - Ski Challenge
Back in 2004 the first virtual Ski World Championships was developed by
Greentube and Ski Challenge 05 was born. The runs at Kitzbühel (AUT)
and Bormio (I) were met with great approval by the ski enthusiasts in Austria.
In order to surpass the great success of 800,000 registered downloads an
even more comprehensive sequel was developed for 2006. The hype in Austria
and Switzerland was sensational. The ski fans simply couldn’t wait
for the much anticipated release of SC 06, which was set to occur at midnight
on 27th November, 2005 via portals in Austria (partners ORF and Kronen Zeitung)
and those of Swiss television (partner SFDRS).
With Ski Challenge 06 gamers
had the additional opportunity of either training offline in the practise
mode, or online in competition mode against other gamers. More than 2.5
million downloads and 220 million completed runs later the expectations
of the partners - especially sponsor partners that were integrated into
the game - were greatly exceeded.
The third version of Ski Challenge (SC:07) has now been running
since the end of November 2006. Alongside a number of new features, such
as individually editable ski characteristics, there is a new run in the
shape of the World Championship slope in Aare. This fifth run will be taken
on by millions of enthusiastic gamers in the qualification mode and on race
weekends.
This season the world’s biggest ski race will be launched with heavy
weight media partners in Austria (ORF), Switzerland (SF), Germany (PRO7)
and Norway (NRK). Both German and English versions of the game can be downloaded
from the following website: skichallenge.orf.at.
