Bridge is one of the most popular English card games. Its ancestry is unknown, but probably has an oriental origin. A connection with the English word bridge does not exist.
Players must follow suit in Bridge. Each player receives 13 cards. The dealer then begins the auction. Once the auction has been completed, and the number of tricks and the trump suit have been determined, the game itself commences. The aim of the game is to achieve the declared number of tricks. The other team must prevent this by taking the tricks instead.
