The origin of Dominoes is unclear. Chinese roots are suspected, but can´t be proven with absolute certainty. At least, the name suggests monasterial ancestry.
A total of 28 tiles is used. Taking turns the players must attempt to place one of his/her stones next to one already on the table. Every tile is divided into halves, with a number of ‘pips’ at either end. A player can only place a stone on the table if at least one end of the tile has the same number of pips as the stone already on the table. The player who lays all of his/her stones first wins.
