Slotsoo sat down with Richard Ganster, the company’s Director of Games Strategy and Portfolio Management, to talk about the new slot inspired by the Chinese New Year called Firecracker Frenzy™ Money Toad™ and what else we players can expect from the studio in 2026.
The inspiration was Chinese New Year – that incredible moment when everyone’s gathered, the firecrackers are going off, there’s this collective sense of ‘this year is going to be prosperous.’ That energy, that optimism, that’s what we wanted to bottle.
The Money Toad itself is a traditional Chinese symbol of wealth – the toad that brings fortune. We wanted to honor that rather than just slapping gold and red on a generic slot.
For the presentation, everything is designed around celebration in motion. The rocket symbols spinning to reveal their colors, the pots growing and exploding, the coins cascading during Lock & Spin – it all builds that festival excitement.
The feeling we want is pure optimism and joy. This isn’t a dark treasure hunt – it’s a celebration of prosperity. Every element – visual, audio, mechanic – serves that feeling of ‘good fortune is coming.'”

2. This is a 5-reel, 25 payline slot, offering classic base gameplay many players know and expect from Greentube. Would you say that this style of slot is synonymous with your brand?
Yes, but let me unpack what ‘classic’ actually means for us in 2026.The 5-reel, 25-line structure is familiar and accessible – players instantly understand how to play. There’s enormous value in that clarity. You’re not forcing someone to learn a new game system every time they try a Greentube title. But here’s what’s important: we use that familiar foundation to deliver sophisticated features. Money Toad™ has a classic reel structure, but then we layer on three simultaneous pot progressions, mystery rocket reveals, Lock & Spin with expandable grids and zone multipliers. That’s complex, engaging gameplay built on a simple framework.
What’s synonymous with Greentube isn’t just the reel configuration – it’s accessible depth. Casual players can spin and enjoy the base game. Engaged players can master the pot filling strategy, understand which modifiers combine best, maximize their Lock & Spin potential.
We could chase more experimental formats – mega ways, cluster pays, whatever’s trendy. And we do explore those. But there’s wisdom in not making players relearn slot fundamentals with every release.
Master the familiar structure, innovate on the features – that’s the Greentube way. It’s why our games work for broad audiences while still offering meaningful depth.”
3. In terms of features and mechanics Firecracker Frenzy™ Money Toad™ has Firecracker Frenzy™ Trails and a Lock ‘N’ Spin bonus. Can you tell us how these work and what can be won from them?
Absolutely. The game has two connected systems:
Firecracker Pots (Base Game):
Three pots sit above the reels – purple, red, and green. During base game play, Mystery Rocket symbols land on the reels, spin around, and reveal their color. That rocket fills one position in the matching pot.
These pots fill over multiple spins – progress carries over, creating that constant sense of building toward something. Fill a pot completely and it explodes, triggering Lock & Spin with that modifier active. Fill two or three pots? You get multiple modifiers working together.
Lock & Spin Bonus:
You start with a grid – 15 positions normally, but up to 35 if you unlocked Extra Row – and 3 spins. Every time a symbol lands, your spins reset to 3.
During Lock & Spin you collect:
If you triggered Zone Boost, filling a designated zone with coins multiplies all their values. If you triggered Coin Boost, individual coins can randomly jump in value
The real excitement is when you trigger Lock & Spin with all three modifiers – expanded grid, zone multipliers active, coins boosting – and you’re one jackpot letter away from completing Major. Those are the moments players remember.”

4. Hold and Win style bonus features are a mainstay in slots in this day and age, what would you say
Hold and Win – has become the dominant bonus mechanic for a simple reason: players want to see their wins building, not just watch reels spin.
Traditional free spins put you in the passenger seat. Lock & Spin makes you an active participant. You see your win accumulating. Every coin that locks is tangible progress. That spin counter ticking down creates tension, but every new symbol that lands and resets it creates relief and excitement.
Where games succeed or fail with this mechanic is in the balance. The frustrating ones make you watch the counter tick down with nothing landing. Good ones, like Money Toad™, tune the symbol drop rates so you’re usually getting resets and building toward something meaningful.
What we’ve added with Firecracker Frenzy™ is the visual spectacle of the pot system. As you play base game, you see those pots filling with rockets – it creates anticipation for when Lock & Spin will trigger and which modifiers will be active.
I think Hold & Win is here to stay because it taps into that collector mindset. But we will add unique presentation and mechanics, not just generic coin collection.

5. What would you say your favourite element of Firecracker Frenzy™ Money Toad™ is, and why do you consider that to be the best part of it?
My favorite moment is when a player fills all three pots during base game and triggers Lock & Spin with every modifier active.
Because at that point, they’ve earned the most powerful version of the bonus. They didn’t just get lucky with a scatter – they built toward it through gameplay. And when Lock & Spin starts with the full 35-position grid, zone multipliers ready, and coin boosts firing, there’s this sense of ‘I created this opportunity.’
What I love from a design perspective is how the three pots create parallel progression. You’re not waiting for one thing to happen – you’re working on three goals simultaneously. Purple rocket lands? That’s progress toward Extra Row. Red rocket? Closer to Zone Boost. Every mystery rocket reveal has meaning.
And the visual feedback is so satisfying – watching those pots fill up, then the explosion when they trigger, the grid expanding, zones lighting up as they multiply. It’s clear, immediate feedback that your strategy is working.
The series as a whole is designed around that earned anticipation. Empress Wealth proved the core mechanic works. Money Toad™ refined it with Zone Boost. And Roar of Riches™ coming next will evolve it further with the Double Up modifier. That iterative improvement is what makes a series great.”

6. This isn’t your first Firecracker Frenzy™ game with Empress Wealth coming out last year, where do you see the direction of this series heading? Can we expect more Firecrackers in the not-so-distant future?
Absolutely – Firecracker Frenzy™ is becoming one of our flagship series, and we’re committed to growing it strategically.
The series framework is brilliant because the core pot collection mechanic works universally, but we can innovate on the modifiers and themes with each entry. Empress Wealth introduced the concept. Money Toad™ brought Zone Boost. And Firecracker game – which is coming – introduces a completely new modifier.
We’re also exploring how this mechanic works across different cultural celebrations and themes. Firecrackers aren’t just Chinese New Year – they’re universal symbols of celebration. We could take this to different festivals, different prosperity symbols, different regions while keeping that trail-driven anticipation players love.
And here’s what’s exciting: we’re not just making Firecracker games. We have Rumble Riches™ expanding as a series – American themes with convoy mechanics. Starlight Jackpots building as a mythological series. And working on our Diamond Link series with new Lock & Spin mechanics.
So yes, expect more Firecrackers – and expect us to keep finding new ways to make those pots explode.
7. Looking a little broader, what can we expect from Greentube in 2026 as a whole?
2026 is about three strategic pillars for us: series expansion, localization, and player empowerment.
Series expansion: You’ll see us building game families like Firecracker Frenzy™, Rumble Riches™, Starlight Jackpots, and Brilliant Pots. Proven mechanics with thematic variations. This lets us deliver quality content faster while giving players that ‘I loved the first one, I’ll try this variant’ experience.
Localization and branded content: We’re investing heavily in processes that let us create market-specific and operator-exclusive content quickly. Not just translating, but true localization – themes that resonate culturally, partnerships that give operators unique games. The infrastructure we’re building lets us move from operator request to launched game in weeks, not months.
Player empowerment: More Buy Bonus options, more strategic choices within gameplay, more ways for players to feel they’re influencing outcomes rather than just watching reels spin.
And underlying all of this is our multi-studio network. We’ve got incredible teams all around the globe – all collaborating, all bringing different creative perspectives. That global capability is a competitive advantage.
