Stefan, you’ve been with Greentube for four years — tell us a bit more about yourself and your career journey at Greentube.
When I joined four years ago, I was initially focusing on Payroll, HR administration, and employee benefits. One of my first major projects was enhancing our benefits package, for example, I introduced the (subsidy to costs of annual) public transport ticket. Over time, my responsibilities grew, and in March I stepped into the role of Section Head Compensation & Benefits. It’s been an exciting journey so far, and I’m proud to contribute to making Greentube an even better place to work.
What excites you most about your new position as Section Head of Compensation & Benefits?
Honestly, what excites me most is my team. I was already part of this amazing group before stepping into the leadership role, and that made the transition feel very natural. What really made the difference was the support I received from my Compensation & Benefits team and the overall HR Team. It’s a great feeling to grow into a new position knowing that you’re surrounded by people who trust you and work together towards the same goals. At the same time, I’m also looking forward to the projects ahead. They offer plenty of opportunities for me to grow and learn.
How do our benefits support employees’ well-being?
Our benefits are thoughtfully designed to support employees’ health, happiness, and work-life balance in both meaningful and practical ways. We offer a wide range of health-focused services from access to a company doctor and psychologist sessions to ergonomic consultations and preventative medical check-ups. It’s all about making sure our employees have the right care at the right time. For those who like to stay active, there’s something for every lifestyle: MyClubs memberships, in-house fitness facilities, football and basketball groups, and even cost-coverage for running and cycling event fees. We also collaborate with Bürobuddy, a local platform that provides quick movement exercises and helpful content on physical and mental wellbeing, perfect for a quick reset during the day. Beyond that, we support everyday life with benefits like a public transport subsidy, childcare support, lunch benefits, and anniversary gifts. Altogether, it’s more than just a benefits package. It’s a toolkit to help our people stay energized, focused, and well, both at work and beyond.

What’s one benefit at Greentube you think more people should know about?
One benefit I think deserves even more attention is our outstanding Learning & Development offering. It’s truly exceptional, not just in scope, but in how thoughtfully it’s designed to support individual growth. Every employee receives an annual personal learning budget which can be used for training and development activities aligned with their role and goals. On top of that, there is the possibility to attend conferences, which are a great opportunity for professional development, networking, and staying up to date with industry trends. And let’s not forget our e-learning platforms: all employees have access to Udemy for Business and Cornerstone, with one hour per week during working hours reserved for work-related online learning. It’s a great way to build new skills at your own pace, and with your manager’s support. All in all, it’s a comprehensive package that reflects how seriously Greentube takes continuous learning and equal opportunities for development.
How does employee feedback shape the way we evolve our compensation or benefits?
Employee feedback plays a key role in shaping how we design, adapt, and communicate our benefits. Whether it comes through informal channels like Teams messages, emails, or hallway conversations, or through structured formats such as our Great Place to Work survey or targeted pulse surveys, we take it seriously. Like in any organization, our resources, both financial and human, are limited. That’s why employee input is so important: it helps us focus our efforts and budget on the benefits that matter most and provide the greatest value to our people. Of course, we can’t fulfill every individual request. But feedback gives us a clear direction for how to improve and evolve our offerings. Sometimes that means introducing something new, and other times it’s about making existing benefits more accessible or better communicated. Thanks to employee input, we’ve already made several processes more transparent and easier to navigate, ensuring that our benefits aren’t just available, but actually used and appreciated.

Talking about leadership – How would you describe your leadership style?
Since I was already part of the team before stepping into the leadership role, the transition felt very natural, and my leadership style hasn’t really changed. Even before, I was often a buddy or the main point of contact for certain topics, so supporting others has always been part of how I work. I see myself as a mentor and coach. My goal is to empower my team, support their development, and have their backs when challenges arise. I try to lead by example and embody the values and behaviors I hope to see in the team. For me, leadership is about trust, collaboration, and creating an environment where people feel confident to grow and contribute.
What advice would you give to someone stepping into their first leadership role?
Be authentic. Don’t try to fit into a mold of what you think a leader should be. Your team will appreciate honesty and consistency more than perfection. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Leadership doesn’t mean having all the answers. In fact, believing you need to be better at everything than your team is a fast track to frustration and failure. Great leaders recognize the strengths of their team members and create space for them to shine. So stay curious, stay humble, and trust that leadership is a journey, not a destination.
And last but not least – what do you value most at Greentube?
That’s easy: the people. I’ve worked in several international companies (IBM, Samsung, PwC, ING) but I’ve never experienced a team as diverse and international as the one here at Greentube. The variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and strengths we bring to the table every day is truly inspiring. It’s this mix that makes collaboration so enriching and keeps me excited about what we can achieve together.
