Lux Blackjack 6-Decks™

In Blackjack you play against a croupier. Your goal with Lux Blackjack is to get a hand worth 21 points. You win if you have a Blackjack or a higher card value than the dealer. But if you go bust and exceed the magic 21 your stakes go to the bank! The croupier has no real choice in Blackjack but follows independent Backjack rules.

Making Bets

The player may play up to three hands simultaneously. For each hand there is an area on the table, where the stake can be placed. There is a minimum and maximum stake per hand. As soon as the stake has been placed, the cards are dealt. For each hand the player receives two cards. The dealer also receives two cards, one of which is covered. If the open card is a 10, the dealer checks whether he has a Blackjack immediately after dealing. If that is the case, the second card is revealed and the round comes to an end. If the first card is an Ace, an insurance round is played. This means that the player is asked whether he/she wishes to be insured against a Blackjack. For each hand with insurance, half of the stake again is added. Once this has been done for every hand, the dealer checks if there is a Blackjack. If this is the case, the second card is revealed and the round comes to an end.

Order of Play

Once the cards have been dealt, each hand is played in order. For each hand the player can decide to receive a card by choosing to ‘hit’. If the value of the hand is below 21 and the player does not wish to receive a further card, he/she can opt to ‘stand’. The value of the hand is frozen and the next hand is up. If the value of the hand exceeds 21 with the additional card, this is said to be ‘bust’ and the next hand is up. Before an additional card is received, the player has the option to ‘double’. If this is chosen, the player receives just one more card and the next hand is played. The player also has the option to ‘split’ if he/she has two like cards. The original hand becomes two and a second stake, at the same value of the original is added, therefore doubling the stake. Each of the new hands receives a second card, and they are then played as normal hands, one after the next. Splitting again is not possible. If one of the new hands has a value of 21 with just two cards, this does not count as Blackjack. If two Aces are split, only one further card can be added before the remaining hands are played.

Once the player has completed his/her hands, the dealer takes his turn. The card, which originally faced downwards, is revealed and the dealer takes cards until he has at least 17 points. The round is then brought to a close and the winner is revealed.

Card Values

Each card is worth its face value. Picture cards are worth 10 points and the Aces are worth either 1 or 11 points. The value of the hand is the total value of all of the individual cards. If a player has 21 points with just two cards, this is called ‘Blackjack’, which is worth more than a 21-point hand with more than two cards.

Score

Each of the player’s hands is scored separately. If the value of the hand is over 21 points, then it is bust and it automatically loses, irrespective of the dealer’s cards. If the hand of the player is 21 or below and the dealer busts, then the player wins. If the dealer has Blackjack and the player not, the dealer wins. The player can, however, win the Blackjack insurance, if he/she paid for it in advance. This is paid at a ratio of 2:1. If the player has Blackjack and the dealer not, the player wins the stake at a ratio of 3:2. No Blackjack is possible with a split hand. A 2-card hand with 21 points wins at 1:1, but the player loses if the dealer has Blackjack. If there are no Blackjacks, the player always wins when his/her hand is higher than the dealer’s hand. If the hands are of equal value, this is called a ‘tie’ and the stake is refunded.
