Growing Together: How We Learn at Greentube

Growing Together: How We Learn at Greentube

At Greentube, learning isn’t a side quest — it’s integrated into how we operate, collaborate, and evolve. Growth is part of the job description, not just a perk. From your very first day, it’s made clear: we want you to develop, not just deliver. Because when individuals expand their knowledge, confidence, and skills, the entire team benefits — and so does the company. It’s a win-win that’s ever present in our company culture.

We also understand that growth doesn’t look the same for everyone. That’s why our approach to learning is flexible, personal, and driven by curiosity — not checklists.

We want to empower you to choose your own learning path: whether that’s technical mastery, leadership development, soft skills, or something uniquely tailored to your goals.

Each employee receives a personal development budget, and these conversations are a key part of appraisal talks — not just a once-a-year footnote. And we don’t stop at intention. We track learning outcomes to make sure your investment of time and energy is paying off in real ways — for your role, your growth, and your sense of fulfillment.

Learning Beyond the Desk: Strengthening Teams, Building Individuals

We know that personal learning is important — but so is growing together. That’s why every team gets a dedicated team-building budget, designed to foster collaboration and creativity, and plain old human connection.

We offer team building activities in various forms, from high-energy sports and action challenges to creative and culinary experiences, all designed to enhance teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Whether through social volunteering, games, or riddle-solving, these activities foster collaboration, boost morale, and strengthen group dynamics in an engaging and meaningful way.

Soft Skills: Overview of Greentube approach

Over the past year, we’ve paid close attention to what our employees have been telling us — through feedback, manager discussions, and even exit interviews. One thing was clear: soft skills are no longer optional; they’re essential.

Whether it’s communication, emotional intelligence, unconscious bias or time management, we’ve expanded our offerings and made them more accessible. All soft skills training is now covered by the broader Learning & Development (L&D) budget, which means your personal learning funds remain untouched — ready to be used on niche or specialized courses.

Online Learning

Everyone at Greentube gets full access to a Udemy license, unlocking thousands of online courses across every imaginable topic — from coding to communication, leadership to language. But we didn’t stop there. Every employee also gets dedicated time to focus on learning and development—an opportunity to sharpen skills, fuel curiosity, or explore something entirely new.

We’ve made the learning process smoother through our HR platform and ongoing support from leadership. We know that time is valuable, and we want learning to feel like a natural part of work life, not an after-hours hustle.

Helping Expats Feel at Home in Vienna

Starting a new job in a new country can be challenging, especially when you speak a different language. That’s why we’ve been offering in-house German language courses. This way we ensure we are helping our international employees feel more confident, connected, and at home. These courses have racked up over 500 hours of learning annually — and the feedback keeps us going.

In 2024, we launched the German Language Lab, a more interactive and community-based approach to language learning, focused not just on grammar, but on cultural fluency and confidence. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with an average rating of 4.8/5 from participants. More sessions are already in the works.

Learning From the Outside World — and Bringing It Back

We encourage employees to attend industry conferences, seminars, and external events — as long as they align with team or company goals. But we also believe knowledge shouldn’t stay with just one person. That’s why we’ve set up a rotation and sharing system: if you go, you bring the learnings back. Presentations, notes, debriefs — whatever it takes to pass on the insights and enrich your team.

Peer-to-Peer Learning

We’ve got brilliant minds across every corner of the company — so why not learn from each other? Since 2018, we’ve been hosting monthly peer-to-peer learning sessions featuring Greentubers sharing their own expertise. Topics have ranged from mental health awareness and AI use cases to technical deep dives and the quarterly “Know Your Games” series, which gives sneak peeks into our upcoming titles.

Tech Roles and their specialized development paths

For those in highly technical roles, one-size-fits-all just doesn’t work. That’s why we’ve worked closely with subject matter experts from our CTO verticals to create 15 role-specific learning paths for Database Developers, Backend Engineers, Scrum Masters, and more.

These paths are tailored to match real business needs, updated annually, and focused on helping you level up within your craft — not outside of it.

Custom Development for Managers

Leadership requires its own kind of learning — and we take that close to heart. For managers, we go beyond generic leadership courses. We work with each person to create a personalized development path based on their needs, team dynamics, and business goals. From selecting the right external trainers to handpicking specific content, the experience is designed to be practical and relevant. The feedback has been strong, and interest is growing every quarter.

Keep Growing — However That Looks for You

At Greentube is a key part of how we develop — individually, as teams, and as a company. Whether you’re into online courses, soft skill deep dives, technical certifications, team building, peer learning, or language skills, the resources are here. And we’re always open to evolving our approach as your needs change.

Our job is to provide space and support. Yours is to lean in, get curious, and explore what growth means to you.

Let’s keep learning — and growing — together.
